Is it a Bird, is it a Plane, no its the Apple iPad Tablet, Netbook PC

After all the rumours of the Apple thingy, tablet or netbook computer, Apple today unveiled its new product to the world, the Apple iPad

A cross between a big fat iPod and a hand-held computer, it is powered by Apple’s own processor, the all-new 1GHz Apple A4 chip. At only 0.5 inches thin with a 9.7 inch IPS display, weighting in at 1.5 pounds, the thing looks stunning.

Some people will be disappointed with the lack of Flash and no multitasking and the fact that the interface looks like a large pumped up iPhone. Don’t be fooled, this is a device that will kill the Amazon Kindle and the cheap netbook Pcs.Apple iPad

US pricing has been confirmed as $499 for 16GB the base model and the 3G models will cost extra, all of the iPad 3G models are unlocked, and they will use the new GSM microSIM. With 10 hours of battery life and a month of standby time, you should be able to take this with you on a long-hall flight and not require a charge.

Apple has launched the new online store for ebooks called iBookstore, along with various iPad applications from launch date such as the iWorks package. A new way to read your Newspaper, browse the web, watch movies and view your pictures… the iPad way.

How successful it will be, will depend largely on the Apple followers and on the coolness it creates when you hold it in your hands in March.
